Point-of-care ultrasound (POCUS) has proven to be an instrumental modality in enhancing the standards and quality of global care. The portable, real-time nature of this tool offers numerous benefits to medical professionals and enables them to meet the needs of their patients. Through global resources, training programs, and partnerships, POCUS has reshaped healthcare for practitioners and patients.
In September, the 2021 POCUS World™ Virtual Conference will further elevate the impact of point-of-care ultrasound by providing our medical community the opportunity to engage with a global network of like-minded professionals.
When planning for the conference, the Point-of-Care Ultrasound (POCUS) Certification Academy™ (POCUS Academy) looked beyond country lines and focused on engaging outlets that would unite the POCUS community in education and action. This innovative event supports the needs of healthcare professionals across specialties, many of who are at different stages in their careers and having varying levels of experience with POCUS.
Attending the conference means having the chance to hear from speakers from 14 different countries, and its virtual format provides a platform to interact with an array of professionals.
“We are truly trying to make this a global event,” said the POCUS Certification Academy’s Global Director of Certificate Assessment, Torrey Smith. As a borderless experience, the conference will bring us together with educational resources and networking possibilities that allow the continued advancement of the standards of care provided around the world.
As a digital event, it grants attendees access to current knowledge on the international applications of POCUS. While there, as a community, we will have the opportunity to “collaborate and network” with each other, according to Jasmine Rockett, the Deputy Director of the POCUS Certification Academy.
The POCUS Academy team designed POCUS World to provide medical professionals a deeper understanding of the innovative approach of point-of-care ultrasound. A library of resources, continuing medical education credits (CMEs), and other tools needed to uphold the standards of POCUS are a few of the takeaways this community gathering offers. This unique conference has also devised an environment and easy-to-navigate format that ensures healthcare providers feel comfortable networking with each other.
During the conference, there will be a range of resources and opportunities designed to support attendees in connecting and sharing knowledge. Attending POCUS World gives us the chance to observe, engage, and network according to our comfort levels. For some, this might mean attending with a colleague, while for others, it provides a platform to be at each breakout session and initiate conversations with other attendees.
According to Rockett, the conference will have round table discussions, live interactive small group discussions, and opportunities for attendees to schedule one-on-one meetings with sponsors and exhibitors.
The virtual platform also provides the chance to private message other attendees to form individual connections. Additionally, each attendee can choose to update their profile to share more about themselves and search for other attendees on a list, which they can filter by interests, specialty, and so on.
